Gel nails vs. Acrylic nails Pros and Cons

Gel nails vs. Acrylic nails: which one to choose?

So basically, the process is that for gel nails you have to put that soft gel composition on your nails and shape it. It will then be dried and set under a UV lamp. This will trigger the polymer reaction in the gel and the nail will attain its hardened texture.

Acrylic nails have a different way of application. They come in the form of a liquid and a powder. Both are applied to the original nail separately and are then air dried.

Acrylics are more porous as compared to the gel nails which means that they stain easily and it also means that they can be removed easily as compared to the gel nails. But no matter what type you use, you just have to make sure that it causes minimal damage to your original nail when you remove it.

Some of the nail salons will try to trick you into the cheap stuff in the market, and they will try to convince you it’s the real gel stuff. Don’t be dragged into the pit. You have to make sure that it’s an authentic place because it’s the matter of your nails.

Gel nails vs acrylic nails, both are equally pretty, but gel nails are being more popular than acrylic because of the fact that they are easier to remove as compared to the acrylic ones.

Gel nails are a better choice in general because these give the nail a softer natural touch and finish. They are more flexible and give you feel of the original nails when you bang your fingers against a door or something. Gel nails are a liquid monomer and are easy to remove with minimal damage to the original nail bed but the nail can still be damaged if it is removed before it has been completely dissolved.

If you choose to go with the gel manicure, the first thing is to make sure that you find a good professional. Always apply oil to Vaseline to the skin lying nearby, to protect it, because you don’t want to damage your skin just for the sake of beautiful nails. And trust me, your nails alone won’t feel pretty if the skin around is abrasive.

And if you want to do your own nails by yourself, just do some research and buy some good products and you’re good to go.
